Circles are when mentor groups gather around the middle of the classroom and talk about what is happening in each of their daily lives. Two people bring an artifact that means a lot to them every time there are Circles, in order to build a strengthened relationship. Circles are what mentor groups and Expeditions classes do to feel more connected with the people they are with and to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance. Circles are also a way to support others and to focus on the successes and stresses of a student at Summit Public School: Shasta.
Jackie Speier, who is the incumbent for the 14th district of California, has a new challenger running for representative, Cristina Osmena. Jackie as of now, focuses on Women’s rights, privacy, consumer safety, advocate for immigration, and affordable health care. Jackie has been in office for ten years now and has caught the attention of many for what she works and fights for as a representative.
Cristina Osmeña, who is running to represent the 14th Congressional District of California against Democratic opponent Jackie Speier, wants to focus on making changes for the Bay Area by lowering taxes, being an active participant in the legislature and trying to implement bills in her first 100 days in office.
